Upcoming McNab Road Bridge Replacement in Pompano Beach

🏗️ Overview of the Bridge Replacement Project

The City of Pompano Beach is moving forward with the long-awaited replacement of the McNab Road Bridge over the C-14 canal. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) officially classified the existing bridge as functionally obsolete following an inspection on March 31, 2024, prompting the need for major improvements.

📅 Project Timeline and Construction Phases

The bridge project will be completed in two major phases:

Phase 1: Streetscape Enhancements

  • Start Date: May/June 2025

  • Estimated Completion: November 2026

  • Focused on beautifying and upgrading the surrounding streets and infrastructure.

Phase 2: Bridge Replacement

  • Start Date: May 2026

  • Estimated Completion: September 2026

  • This phase will involve the complete demolition and rebuilding of the McNab Road Bridge.

🚗 Traffic Alert: The bridge will be closed to automobile traffic during construction. Although a temporary bridge was once proposed, it was ultimately ruled out due to feasibility concerns. Residents can expect increased vehicle flow through nearby neighborhoods, particularly between McNab Road and NE 62nd Street.

🌊 Improvements for Waterfront Property Owners

Residents of Imperial Point and nearby communities with waterfront homes will benefit from the increased bridge clearance. The new structure will provide an additional 4 feet of vertical clearance, allowing:

  • Wider tide windows for navigating in and out

  • Larger boats and watercrafts to pass more freely

This change has seen several revisions but is now confirmed in the final plans.
